Job Description
We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic individual to lead the Design and Development team at Brother Vellies. This candidate should be self-motivated, organized, personable, and looking to develop their skills within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The individual will be responsible for creative concepting, visual design and development of  various creative projects including our accessories collections, products developed with brand partners, and the Something Special subscription program. Please note, this role will start working remotely however will eventually move into our Brooklyn, New York based office. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support our Creative Director in the design and development process for all products.
  • Oversee conceptual, digital, and production design work, as well as provide managerial oversight for the design and production team.
  • Inspire and lead, successfully creating unique and compelling, brand-right products. Create a cohesive product assortment that delivers sales results, is unique, innovative, ahead of market trend and beautiful, while ensuring brand aesthetic and design storytelling is threaded throughout.
  • Lead price negotiations with vendors and workshops. Oversee sourcing of new artisan workshops.
  • Oversee tracking and management of production and sampling costs. Manage budget to ensure project costs do not exceed forecasts. 
  • Analyze new styles and collaborations for viability, cost-effectiveness, long-term line-planning, and competitive advantage to facilitate decision making and timely execution.
  • Create and refine an ecosystem of products on the line plan, building assortment strategies based on seasonality, function, style count and price point.
  • Name new collections and work with production and operations teams to prepare pricing. 
  • Oversee tracking, management, and shipping of all materials and products.
  • Own and drive critical timelines on projects and balance workload for the design and production team, adhering to calendar and key milestones.
  • Use business and management expertise to achieve financial and operational objectives.
  • Provide creative direction to partners.
  • Assist in the sourcing of raw materials in line with the product/collection briefing.
  • Oversee collating of all raw material information, pricing, MOQ technical sheets.
  • Creating detailed sketches and CAD illustrations to progress designs through the full development and manufacturing process.
  • Ensuring product files are up to date and properly filed.
  • Oversee the tracking of all product samples through the design and development process.
  • Oversee and assist with the creation of technical packs.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Incredibly creative and innovative with strong illustration skills. Can create hand sketches and proficient in CAD.
  • Thorough knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Strategic in approach and can think outside-the-box and innovatively at all stages of the creative, design and development process.
  • Problem-solver who can prioritize among multiple and oftentimes competing priorities.
  • Ability to lead by example, contribute positively to team dynamic, cultivate passion and productivity, and mentor younger creatives and team members.
  • Ability to adeptly tackle complex organizational problems with a solutions oriented mindset.
  • Good technical knowledge of footwear and small leather goods products and market.
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and strike a balance between creativity and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, highly motivated self-starter with ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Job Description
Brother Vellies is looking for someone who is a self-starter, organized, personable, and a quick thinker to join our team as a Communications and Social Media Strategist. This person would oversee Brother Vellies’ social media channels, create compelling copy for our newsletters and products, and be a liaison between our public relations agency and the team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic planning, development, ongoing execution, and management for all social media activities on behalf of the brand. Own and execute social media content for all Brother Vellies channels (FB, IG, Twitter, Pinterest).
  • Lead content creation including content sourcing and shoots as needed.
  • Achieve and track KPI’s across each platform. Prepare reports that show success of campaigns and key metrics.
  • Drive meaningful fan engagement, brand awareness, and conversions.
  • Engage in conversation (including direct message, inquiries, and comments) with consumers/followers in a brand voice.
  • Curate a range of engaging posts, focusing on current product and key company initiatives.
  • Manage press inquiries. Work with our external public relations agency as a liaison to the brand which could include coordinating interviews.
  • Design and maintain an influencer and gifting marketing strategy and establish program KPI’s in partnership with eCommerce and the creative team. Manage all lists and communications with key influencers. Brainstorm creative ways to cross-promote and collaborate with influencers.
  • Provide creative direction to partners.
  • Hypothesize, test, and learn (from demographics, messaging, creative, and campaigns with influencers).
  • Create compelling copy for newsletters and build a newsletter cadence with ecommerce teams. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of the brand, as well as current and past product styles.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in social media, copywriting and/or public relations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms and metrics, editing applications, and other best practices.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written, photo, and video formats. Video editing experience is appreciated, but not necessary.
  • Strong storytelling skills with ability to distill content into bite-sized social media captions and images that resonate on social media.
  • Ability to create appropriate brand copy.
  • Knowledge of international PR and markets is a plus.
  • Entrepreneurial, highly motivated self-starter with ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Job Description

Brother Vellies is looking for someone who is a self-starter, organized, personable, and a quick thinker to join our team and assist with retail operations for the brand including our physical store located in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, as well as fulfillment of our direct-to-consumer orders on BrotherVellies.com. This person should be enthusiastic, friendly, energetic, and a creative problem solver with a genuine love of sales and desire to provide outstanding customer service. This person will assist with all sales activities in our Brooklyn boutique including but not limited to:

Retail/Ecommerce Fulfillment Responsibilities:

  • Keep the floor stocked and current.
  • Organize the back of house efficiently.
  • Must have a general working knowledge of Shopify.
  • Perform cycle counting and ensure inventory is properly tracked and updated in Shopify. Also manage any off-premise inventory housed in storage or at our distribution center. 
  • Fulfill DTC customer orders in a timely manner. Deliver orders to local customers if needed by a certain time. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of the brand, as well as current and past product styles 
  • Provide exceptional customer service. Responsible for responding to inquiries in the customer service email inboxes and answering the store telephone in a courteous manner. 
  • Must have great clienteling skills and be able to connect with and reach out to customers and build a personal book of business.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the customer database, top customers, and common customer needs.
  • Proactively communicate with customers about delayed orders, order discrepancies, account errors and manage other issues.  
  • Protection of company assets through loss prevention and expense efficiencies.
  • Executing our annual sample sale.

Office/Store Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain store and bathroom appearance, organization, and cleanliness. 
  • Maintain store plants and decor. 
  • Focus on product and instore initiatives that delight the customer – including marketing/events/visual merchandising.
  • Ensure execution of and provides input into the creation of store retail performance and store operations strategy. Help create strategies that can drive sales and improve store experience. 
  • Communicate any maintenance issues to landlord for repairs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Physical demands: This position can involve constant motion, talking, listening, lifting and reaching for items, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Prepare end of day reports and reporting on customer feedback. 
  • Available to work a variety of hours, which may include some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Ability to multitask while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of business. 
  • Previous experience in luxury retail, customer service, or other related fields.
  • Problem-solver who can prioritize among multiple and oftentimes competing priorities.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Good organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and strike a balance between creativity and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
